19 Sep Insurance and your SMSF Investment Strategy
On 7th August 2012 the Government’s Stronger Super reforms introduced two key changes to SIS Regulation 4.09 i.e. Investment Strategies effective for the 2012/2013 year and onwards.
Trustees of SMSFs must now consider:
4.09(2)(e) “whether the trustees of the fund should hold a contract of insurance that provides insurance cover for one or more members of the fund”
Trustees must now also “review regularly” (SIS Reg 4.09(2)) their investment strategy. Most Trustees would already being doing this with their annual compliance, but the Government is now ingraining this requirement into the SIS Regulations..
